                         We are supposed to assemble at 5’am at dawn of October 09, 2010. The MOTARG-Criminology Interns were the early birds. Many were already there before I came. I arrived at 5:40 am, everyone was there. The trucks that were supposed to bring us to Conel did not show up and so, the JESS volunteers arranged jeepney rides for everyone. At exactly 7:17 am, we left RMMC and three jeepneys conquered the highway to Conel, along with the crim-intern riders.             We were assembled at a covered court in Brgy. Conel.             The VW beetle. Originally produced by the Germans from 1938 up to year 2003. My bug’s mechanic (Manong Teddy), said that I made the right choice (apart from the many obvious reasons), for it’s a woman’s car. Reason?, its air-cooled , well, for most vehicles are water-cooled . So, there is no need for tedious water-filling of its coolant.             I have long been fascinated by this lovable turtle-shaped car. I remember when I first rode a bug, I was in high school at the time, when our neighbor-stall’s driver tagged me along to fetch his boss at our town’s inn. I was surprised to realize that, to get to the backseat, you need to bend the front-passenger’s seat. When I was at the backseat, Manong Buddy turned-on the car stereo, put-on Roxette’s beat, and there I was, stunned. I rode with many different cars before, but that one amazed me the most.   ...
